NYC Running
CONGRATULATIONS VIRTUAL NYC MARATHON RUNNERS!!
It is such an AMAZING accomplishment to become a marathon runner, and everyone should be very proud of themselves for running their marathon. Even though the big race was virtual, everyone should still celebrate with fun pictures, yummy foods and lots of fun drinks! All of the hard work and fundraising really means a lot, even more so doing it all virtually! One of my longtime friends was sad that everything went virtual, because this was her first marathon, and she raised a lot of money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I told her that hard work makes her a Rockstar, running mountains with her four kids training everyday all year, she’s an incredible woman. She has an amazing base for next year’s marathon. Racing will be back before we know it, we just need to ride the wave, go with the flow.
The last time that I was running in NYC was last spring/summer, on a weekend after a business trip in Brooklyn. I enjoy running the loop of the park in Brooklyn when I’m there, such a treat. One of my friends woke up really early, and dropped me off all the way over in Central Park, despite traffic, so that I could run around and take everything in. I did the same loop for about three hours, and ran probably eighteen miles. I found the Balto statue! Afterwards, we went to Starbucks on the Upper East Side, to play pretend Gossip Girl, in our running apparel hahah. Then, we went to Tiffany on every floor, ending with browsing engagement rings for fun, the most sparkly of diamond displays! Of course, after that we went to see the Statue of Liberty. Another time, my boss brought me all the way to Montauk to let me run around the beach all day. Afterwards we lounged around with a mountainous assortment of her favorite bagels from Goldberg’s, with chocolate bars for dessert whilst drinking red wine and watching movies. Running in New York is so special, every time can have a completely different theme.
Running is a lifelong sport, that goes with any career path, always opening doors to so many people and places! This time has made me very grateful for my support system, and having the privilege of being an established marathon runner.
