My morning running session in the rain! I feel like I am always drenched in rain after running lately, but it will be so worth sticking to the mileage plan when I am racing in the fall. 😄
I started my day with shooting around with my lacrosse stick and bag of balls in my parent’s back yard. Then, went to Filmore Glen for a hike along the gorges and waterfalls. Aprés, we went to Valentine's for pizza on our way back from buying lavender from the Lockwood Lavender Farm. Finally, I did my run and the rain came down pretty hard so it ended early, but I had a wonderful time nonetheless. I’m pretty happy. 😄
When I watched this video, I have to tell you I was very impressed with Tom dominating the field! Wow, that was incredible.
J'y pense que, Stevie ran the Virtual Boston Marathon of 2020 with Tom last September in Chicago! You can read all about it in our interview.

I still think it's absolutely amazing Stevie ran the Boston Marathon virtually in Chicago, Laura her mom made such beautiful signs for her family and all of Jake's family to cheer them on!🏅 🦄
10 miles in yesterday and today, so this girl is feeling good. Hopefully, I add a little more on sometime today and have an impeccable long run tomorrow. My running life is really looking up!
Lucy loves swim, but Luna not so much.
On my run today, I ran my sub six minute mile. Then, it started raining and I slowed way down, because I had nowhere else to put my phone other than my shorts and it kept falling as my pace sped up. So, it is baisically like I ran a mile and lightly jogged in the rain which is fine. The Hurricane Elsa rain overtook today, so I will probs wind up on a treadmill for a real training sesh. However, philosophically whilst running came the idea that once you master something you can do it repeatedly forever. It may seem crazy to run your race pace mile for a Marathon and not a 5k, but gradually through the years your body adjusts and that vital endurance feels natural for an entire 20ish mile race. To think back in high school cross country, I dreaded the day we had to run like ten miles, and now it does not phase me in the least; healthy and in the correct sneakers of course. Progress is progress is progress. 😄
Both times I did not end up running Olympic Trials for the Marathon, I just ran Mount Desert Island and it made me feel better. After last year, I feel like if I run my goal times this year I really will not care about what I missed out on over covid, because I will be so content and happy. The good thing about the Marathon event is that there are so many of them. There is always a rebound. 😊
I had a great day with my sister, aunts and these corgis swimming. This evening, my day of bliss was concluded with an eight mile hilly run of some real grit in that first stretch!
Last night was 15 miles and today’s evening run was only five miles and not my fastest, because it was so hot! I feel on track to a nice fall season of racing. Next week, I totally need to hop onto a track for a speed sesh.
Or maybe I’ll skip my race spontaneously to go on another adventure with my little cousin Lauren. In Florida, my little cousin/ little sister/ best friend saved my legs from running a Marathon on Valentine’s Day weekend, with a surprise trip to Disney which was so much better than Ft Lauderdale would have been. Lauren's Queenie, and totally made the right Florida destination trip for us that weekend. You might think you’re running 26.2 miles, but your bestie might bring you on an adventure instead. I want covid to be over so we can go to the top of a mountain overlooking the ocean or back to Disney or back to the beach…
A morning when I make it through ten miles is always a good morning. This run really made me think about when I love to look at my stopwatch and when I do not need to. Usually when I do my standard ten mile day to day run, I warm up for a few miles, do some speed work for a few miles, and then do some cool down miles. Ideally ten strides before and after… I think that it is important to have my GPS to tell me what mile I am on, because miles start overlapping really fast. I really pay attention to the time after three miles. Three miles in, I am always warmed up and ready to make my legs move for mile split times.
